Patricia Kiarie, Solar Educator
I am a Professional Electrical Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the Water-Energy Nexus. Based in Kenya, I combine my advance technical expertise in renewable energy to champion the use of renewables especially solar PV systems in the water sector thereby improving resilience of water infrastructure and especially community water projects.
Representing my organization at Board/Governance level has given me the immense opportunity to not only bridge the gap between technical engineering teams and policy-makers but also represent women at higher decision making. This has made me appreciate the gender gap in technical fields thus my interest to influence and mentor Women in STEM. Through strategic advocacy and my training as a dispute resolver, I work to dismantle barriers to entry for women, ensuring that the benefits of the green economy are accessible to all. I am therefore interested in training and empowerment of the next generation of engineers and community leaders.
