Maureen Achieng, Solar Educator
Maureen Achieng Otieno is a Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Systems professional with 8 years of experience in renewable energy training, leadership, and community-based solar solutions. She previously worked at the Strathmore Energy Research Centre as a Training Coordinator, where she facilitated the Women at the Forefront Training Programme, an initiative aimed at increasing the number of licensed female solar PV technicians in Kenya. She has served on the Management Committee of Women in Sustainable Energy and Entrepreneurship (WISEe), contributing to strategic leadership, mentorship, and the advancement of women’s participation in the clean energy sector. Maureen gained her technical experience through training with Remote Energy (U1, U2, and U3) and has practical, hands-on experience in solar PV installation. She has supported the installation of solar systems in schools and health clinics across various counties through We Share Solar and We Care Solar, improving access to reliable and clean electricity for essential community services. She is a Solar Educator passionate about empowering women, youth, and communities through locally driven climate and clean energy solutions.
